  • 2 pcs fish large or 4pcs Small* (see note) u2013 cleaned
  • 2 tsps red chilli powder (or more depending on spice tolerance)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • semolina (Rawa) for coating
  • to taste salt
  • cooking oil (for frying)


  1. Marinate the cleaned fish with salt, red chilli and turmeric powder, let it marinate for about 30mins -1hour.
  2. Heat the pan and add oil, coat the fish with the semolina and shallow fry in the pan.
  3. Turn the fish over when cooked on one side, and the let the other side cook. The fish is done when the flesh turns white. Do not let it over-cook.
  4. Serve with some steaming hot rice and daal or fish curry
