French Toast with Nectarine Fruit Salad Recipe for an indulgent start to the day. Perfect golden brown exterior, drizzled oh-so-generously with organic maple syrup or raw honey and topped off with a fresh fruit salad.
Throughout weekdays, breakfasts in our household are rushed, there’s this kind of chaos to get out the door, head to work. Which means, the coffee is sipped too quickly and whatever is eaten is probably uneventful. How I wish that were not the case, but both M and I are no where close to zen mode in the mornings.
But boy how that changes over the weekend. We stop and smell the coffee beans, there’s eggs involved in some form or the other and there sure is conversation. Breakfasts are even more special when our best friends have stayed over, lots of laughter and funnies and drama has been shared over games of Monopoly and cards and we’ve fallen asleep over movies. And the morning after, deserves an indulgent treat. So while a fresh pot of coffee is brewed, I whipped up these french toasts – they have the perfect golden brown exterior, drizzled oh-so-generously with organic maple syrup or raw honey and topped off with a fresh fruit salad. The silence that follows the first few bites into the bread is a sign of a job well done!
- 8 pcs bread Thickly sliced
- 3 Eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup cream Double
- 1 tbsp caster sugar
- 3 Nectarines
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tsp brown sugar Raw
In a bowl beat the eggs along with milk, double cream, vanilla and caster sugar.
Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Dip the bread slices (try and cut them thicker than the usual, and preferably a day old) into the egg mixture and fry on the pan on both sides.
Flip over and ensure both sides are evenly browned and the egg cooked.
In a separate bowl toss together the nectarines, raw sugar and balsamic.
Pour over the french toast to serve along with honey or maple syrup, as preferred.
