Eat Greek Kouzina at the Beach, JBR offers incredibly fresh seafood, great dips, a true taste of all things Greek and delicious. With its al fresco dining option by the beach, its the perfect winter- lunch spot to gather your friends.
If you’re in Dubai, life right now is pretty much perfect weather-wise. It is the only time in the year when people aren’t actually moaning about it. It is also the perfect time to be outdoors, a lot. Pretty much all our weekends are spent enjoying al fresco lunches in the sunshine, sharing food with friends over laughs. And one of our absolute favorite spots for it is Eat Greek Kouzina at the Beach, JBR.
The menu is stuffed to the brim with all the Greek classics you’d expect – there’s enough variety between vegetarian, meaty and seafood to have everyone at the table happy. For example this hot from the oven Baked Feta Cheese with tomato, peppers, herbs & olive oil is the ideal start – I mean who doesn’t love a little bit of a cheesy start to the food marathon? Feta is an integral part of my personal Greek food experience so you’ll always find that a common thread when we order.
While it might be hard to share, this Greek style bruschetta made with warm pita bread, stuffed to the gills with roasted-until-sweet peppers, anchovies and lots of crumbled feta has all the textures and flavors you’d like in a mouthful. The anchovies add this lingering umami-touch to the whole dish that is never over-whelming.
Between drinks and chatter, a great cold dip to share is their roasted & smoked eggplant puree with peppers & herbs with pita. On a Saturday lunch the place was packed and the service was still attentive and accommodating.
Easily the highlight of our lunch was this Jumbo Prawns Saganaki – the base of the fresh tomatoes cooked down to a chunky pulp and finished with melty feta cheese were perfect to scoop up with the pita ( unfortunately, the bread needs to be ordered as a side and isn’t included with the dish). The prawns were perfectly cooked and every single salty, sweet, briny flavor combined well together. It was the kinda dish that pretty much made the entire meal memorable for me ( that’s sort of like a food halo effect).
We also ordered the grilled Black Bream with lemon oil that arrived at our table with beautiful crispy skin served on a generous bed of wild greens & steamed vegetables. The portion size is massive and you’d definitely need to share if there were appetizers before it.
A great meal needs a sweet sign off and since we had the luxury of sharing, we went all out with an indulgent assorted dessert platter – Loukoumades, Galaktoboureko (vanilla milk pie), Orange Pie (biggest hit on our table), warm chocolate fondant & an EPIC smoked eggplant Tiramisu. Yup, you read right. Oh so unique in flavor, and like the rest of our meal, I highly recommend you try it!
